IDENTIFYING VALUES

By identifying what your values are, you can begin to design a life that is in better alignment with your true self. This process can take some time and some deep thought.

To start to identify your own values think about things like:

  • What principles guide your decisions and actions?
  • When do you feel most like your authentic self?
  • What qualities do you admire in others, and why do they resonate with you?

It can be really useful to get an outside opinion from friends, family, or colleagues. Ask them to give you five words that best describe you. You don’t need to explain what you are doing it for. The results are often quite enlightening!

Once you’ve identified your values, you can start to prioritise them and understand which ones are most important to you. You can think about what a particular value looks like to you, what it means for you to live that value, and what you would be doing if you were living this value. How does it make you feel when you live your values?

Use the worksheet to help identify your values.
